MARIA INES LOPES

Maria Inês Lopes (Lisbon, 1986) obtained a Master’s degree in Film Direction at the TAI Arts & Entertainment School (Madrid, 2015). There, Maria Inês took classes with teachers such as Jonás Trueba, Sigfrid Monléon, Carlos Reviriego, Ivan Aledo, Miguel Angel Rebollo, among others.

“El Duende” is her first short film, which she has written, directed and starred in as her final Master’s project. This film was present at the 69º Cannes Film Festival (Short Film Corner), Curtas Vila do Conde, Montréal Cinefest, Los Angels Cinefest, it was one of the twenty most watched and most voted among 360 other short films in the Festival Iberoamericano del Cortometraje, it has received a Laurel of Achievement from Cinema Grand Prix in Indonesia, and it was also screened in Shortcutz Lisboa in October 2016 and in Shortcutz Viseu in April 2017.

 

As an actress, she participated in short films, television and theatre. During her adolescence and early adulthood, she took drama classes. More recently, she has been initiated to the realistic method, having taken classes with John Strasberg, and in the Chekhov Technique with Lenard Petit.

Maria Inês’s broad interest in film and her innate characteristic of versatility have enabled her to work in art direction, production assistance and as an actor in short films and in publicity.

​

Prior to Madrid, Amsterdam and Lisbon were the cities that she lived in, having completed a Master in Biological Engineering at Técnico Lisboa.

​

Although she has been living in Madrid for quite some time, the center of the Iberic peninsula, Maria Inês dreams about the ocean and feels a transient urge to go visit it, which she promptly does when back at home.

Maria Inês Lopes (Lisboa, 1986) obteve um Mestrado em Realização de Cinema na Escola Universitária de Artes e Espectáculos TAI (Madrid, 2015), onde teve como professores Jonás Trueba, Sigfrid Monléon, Carlos Reviriego, Mikel Iribarren, Ivan Aledo, Miguel Angel Rebollo, entre outros.

 

“El Duende” é a sua primeira curta-metragem, a qual escreveu, realizou e protagonizou como seu projecto final de Mestrado. Esta curta passou no Festival de Cannes (Short Film Corner), Curtas Vila do Conde (Take One) e Montréal Cinefest.

 

Como actriz, participou em curtas-metragens e teatro. Durante a adolescência e início da idade adulta teve aulas de interpretação. Mais recentemente, iniciou-se no método da escola realista, tendo aulas com John Strasberg, e na Técnica Tchekhov, com Lenard Petit.

​

O seu vasto interesse pelo cinema e a sua inata versatilidade levaram-na a trabalhar em direcção de arte, assistência de produção e como actriz em curtas-metragens e filmes publicitários.

​

Antes de Madrid, Amsterdão e Lisboa foram as cidades de eleição, tendo completado um Mestrado em Engenharia Biológica no Técnico Lisboa.
